BNL to combat CO2 emissions with Zerofootprint Offsets during their Canadian Tour
Toronto, ON: Multi-platinum Canadian recording artists Barenaked Ladies are completing the Canadian leg of their North American tour, while keeping their eco-footprint in mind. Any successful band tours on a regular basis, and when you are hauling a group, a crew and equipment throughout Canada, you use big trucks that produce big CO2 emissions. BNL is using Biodiesel in their vehicles and has teamed up with Zerofootprint to offset their travel emissions, making big steps to prevent Carbon Dioxide from entering our atmosphere.
The Ladies will play Toronto’s Air Canada Centre on February 16th as part of their B.L.A.M. Tour. As fans enter the building they will be able to peruse BNL’s on-site eco-village – Barenaked Planet. Concertgoers will find out more about the groups environmental causes, including Zerofootprint Offsets.
“A lot of fans are not only dedicated to the band, but dedicated to the environment, too,” says singer and guitarist Steven Page.*
“Rock and roll has always been about changing the world,” says Deborah Kaplan, Executive Director of Zerofootprint. “The Barenaked Ladies are just taking the next logical step during this tour by lightening their footprint on the earth. They see what the problem is, and they’re doing something about it. I think their fans respect them for it. I know I do.”
CO2 emissions from passenger vehicles make up 12% of all Canadian greenhouse gas emissions. Zerofootprint’s portfolio of renewable energy and forestation offsets flows money into certified projects that prevent and absorb climate-changing CO2 emissions. When you see the Zerofootprint seal, you know that these offsets are guaranteed to highest possible standards.
