Heavy road users in the EU countries may soon have to pay a cost for air pollution, noise pollution and congestion.
In a video on The Oil Drum, New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg explains how New York will follow London, England’s lead and initiate congestion pricing. This action is part of New York City’s plan to be significantly more sustainable by 2030.

In 1995 Seattle’s traffic ranked 7th-worst in the United States, with drivers spending an average of 52 hours in traffic due to congestion. In 2005, Seattle drivers are spending an average of 45 hours, and rank 19th-worst.
