Fast food is factory food, and it is largely responsible for the growth of factory farming over the past 50 years. Consumers increasingly want cheaper and cheaper meat (and other products), and they want it available on a whim. As a society, we give little thought to how our food and other products are produced, or whether people or animals suffered for us to get our products so cheaply.
